I'm Jane Shin–writer, creative producer, and connector in music, building relationships with artists and creators. I’m also the creator and host of Progression, a podcast centered on exploring mental health, personal development, spirituality through conversations with artists and more.
I currently work at Amazon Music, creative writing and producing video content for artists. I last wrapped up my time at Spotify as lead creative writer for audio and video content for the Originals Team where I helped tell artists' stories, from 6LACK to Young M.A's. I also freelance write.
Before joining Spotify, I was at SoundCloud for five years where I drove its establishment and growth as an artist-friendly platform. As SoundCloud's first U.S. Community Manager, I led community engagement programs from 2011-2013. From 2014-2016, I led Artist Relations on the Music Content team. I supported, advocated for, and helped break emerging and independent artists like GoldLink, Little Simz and more.
Prior to SoundCloud, I directed website builds and managed online fan clubs for clients in music and entertainment, from RapRadar to The Killers.
I spent 10 formative years in the Bay Area before returning to my hometown of Los Angeles in September 2016. To document the transition, I started JANEWAVE, a personal newsletter to reflect on my journey and share self-care tips and music recommendations. The newsletter has since expanded to the blog on this website.
Gratitude, progression, and trusting the process are core to my writing, work, and being.
